I would like to revisit a certain statistic I had talked about on an earlier post. It claimed that up to 80% of women suffer from cellulite. What this means is that if you are reading this post then there’s a very high likelihood that you are a victim of cellulite. Now let’s move away from the problem and concentrate on the solution. In this particular post I’d like to specifically talk about belly cellulite which in my honest opinion is the worst kind. Here are some tips on how to get rid of cellulite stomach.
Kill the fat
Don’t get angry because I’m not saying that just because you have cellulite then automatically it means you are fat. You may not be aware of this but even models with banana bodies have been known to suffer from cellulite! Yes, you read that correctly. Here’s the reality, just because you are slim does not mean you do not have excess fat in your body. Your goal should therefore be to reduce the size of the fat cells lurking around your belly and the best way of doing so is by exercising. You need to ensure that all the food you eat goes towards building lean muscle as opposed to being deposited around the gut in the form of fat.
When it comes to burning stomach fat, cardiovascular exercises are the most effective. Running is a good example but for some people this may not be the best option probably because of bad knees and the like. If I have just described your situation then I have a suggestion; cycling. The best thing about cycling is that it is low-impact which means that the risk of getting new injuries and aggravating old ones is low. Your aim should be get your body to sweat as much as possible
Strengthen your abdomen
If you want to get rid of cellulite stomach or at least reduce its conspicuousness, you have to tone your middle-section. This will work hand in hand with your overall fat-burning exercise regimen. The bicycle maneuver is one of the best workouts for toning the abdominal region. Here’s a YouTube video that demonstrates how this workout is performed. Crunches and sit ups are other examples of workouts that will help tone your belly muscles.
This is probably one of the easiest ways of getting rid of cellulite around the stomach region. Simply find a body brush and use it on your stomach. For the best results, the brush strokes should follow a continuous circular motion i.e. don’t change the direction of movement after one rotation. Dry brushing should be done everyday and each session should last at least 5 minutes. So maybe you are wondering what kind of sorcery this is; I can assure you that there is no magic involved, only science. Dry-brushing aids with lymphatic drain and circulation which as you know by now are very essential in the fight against cellulite.
Watch your beer consumption
Yes, I’m specifically talking about beer in this case and not alcohol in general. I’m pretty sure you have ever heard the term ‘beer gut’. Beer as you know contains its fair share of calories. For some reason beer calories don’t exactly make people fat the way fried food, cheese etc do, they just end up around the middle section in the form of a fat ball. It might sound funny but it is true. I’m pretty sure you know of a few people who drink a lot of beer and who despite being thin have quite a pot on them. For women a beer pot is the perfect cellulite factory.
Catecholamine and cellulite
I know I have talked about stress before but I think this is one of those topics that just cant overstressed (pun). The two stress hormones, catecholamine and cortisol are compounds you really don’t want to have too much of in your body since they activate fat storage. As I have said before, don’t keep things bottled up, speak out. Meditation, aromatherapy and doing what you love will go a long way in helping you relax. Exercise, which has already been mentioned, can also help relieve stress. How you may ask; every time you cycle, jog etc, your body releases the so called ‘feel good hormones’ like dopamine which mitigates the effects of cortisol and catecholamine.
